Please run: xset dpms force off; sleep 7; xset dpms force on This should turn off the screen (power saving) for 7 seconds, then turn it on again.
There are a lot of different issues and comments added to this bug report, and there is no feedback from the original reporter. I would suggest all of you file separate bug reports on your issues, where you focus on one issue and include all necessary information.
