I have the studio 1558, brightness control problem going on. I added the repository with: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kamalmostafa/linux-kamal-mjgbacklight/ppa
Then I did: sudo apt-get update It still wouldn't work, so I ran this: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade I guess I'll reboot, and see if it works.
