Same with Go5700 from fresh install. Specifically, the first time I tried to log in to Unity, I was met with only desktop wallpaper and windows that flashed in and out of existence too fast to click. The next time I logged in after reboot I chose 'Ubuntu (Classic)', which worked fine, including full window transparency and shadows, but after running the first update, I lost those features too.
