Thanks.  I am aware of that and similar workarounds, but the issue
remains.  The more important thing to address is to more consistently
and properly handle which screen is primary.  There are not easy ways to
set this, change it, or remember for the future.  I have been testing
Gnome 3 and the problem still exists there as well.

KDE's concept of only showing windows in the task bar for the screen
that it's on is a big help, but laptop users need more flexibility and a
quick way to change from one screen configuration to another.  I realize
that this is a larger issue than this one bug and bugs in several
packages including proprietary drivers don't help us get to a
resolution.
