I had the same problem here. It looks very much like it is related to a Java runtime environment being selected in Tools>Options>Java. The font list will show only the few fonts listed in the original bug report if you unselect "Use a Java runtime environment". On the other hand if you select a jre and restart ooo all fonts will display in the style dialog.
