I managed to found out what was causing the problem. I had to blacklist the bcm43xx module. After doing that I don't need to suspend the computer and wake it up anymore in order to start the wireless connection. And having the wireless connection enabled using the network manager restarts the device after a reboot. I don't know why it doesn't do it otherwise.
