OpenBabel is needed for a major feature in Kalzium (its molecular editor). The Kubuntu team would very much like to keep this functionality.
Recently, Debian has added an openbabel-gui package to reflect the new OpenBabel GUI from upstream. Unfortunately this means that there cannot be any tricks to put this binary package in universe while keeping the openbabel source packae in main. To solve this, we could drop the openbabel-gui package from openbabel's source package. If there is interest in keeping this package around (there might not be since it is new), an openbabel-universe package could be made that only ships this binary package. Of course interest in the gui package is vital for this separate source package to work. The Kubuntu team would very much prefer this solution to gimping Kalzium's functionality. (P.S. I'm also subscribing Kubuntu-Bugs instead of having it assigned, since Kubuntu-bugs is nothing more than a bugmail funnel.) ** Changed in: kdeedu (Ubuntu Oneiric) Assignee: Kubuntu Bugs (kubuntu-bugs) => (unassigned) ** Also affects: openbabel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/780971 Title: openbabel (main) should not b-d on wxwidgets (universe) -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
