I would like to thank everyone for contributing to my bug report. As I originally stated, apparently I am not the only one to be suffering from the Natty update. Everything was fine with my system until the recent update and now I am glad I never gave up on Windows by keeping it in my dual-boot system as it is now through Windows XP that I find myself writing this. Unless I find something that works soon I will most likely be reverting back not to Ubuntu 10.10 but rather to the 10.04 LTS so that I don't have to deal with any updates that completely kill my system (which is exactly what happened) for at least another year. Canonical really needs to re-evaluate their strategy to use this new Unity desktop because it seems to really be hurting the momentum that Ubuntu had gained while using GNOME as the default desktop environment. Perhaps Unity is the right choice for netbooks but definitely not for desktops, at least not yet. I, for one, would never have decided to switch over to Linux if my first experience with Linux had given me half as many headaches as the current situation that Natty Narwhal is making us endure. Thanks again to everyone and don't give up.
