Public bug reported: Binary package hint: system-config-printer-gnome
Hello, [Details]: I tried to configure a printer in my Ubuntu 11.04 via system-config- printer-gnome, but I couldn't because I could find the printer in my Samba Network, but when I tried to test the accessibility of the printer, it failed even with the correct authentication username and password... [Workaround]: So I had to change the share name of the printer, removing all the spaces it had... And with that I could connect to it normally. [Problem]: "system-config-printer-gnome" can't connect to a Samba remote printer that has spaces in it's share name... [Informations Related to the OS's used to test the Issue]: OS of the computer that has the Remote Printer: Windows 7 Ultimate x86 SP1 with Kaspersky Firewall allowing file, folder and printer sharing... OS of my Machine (I used it to connect to the remote printer): Ubuntu 11.04 and Kubuntu 11.04 Thanks for your help, André M. --- Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release i386 (20101007) Lpstat: device for Epson-Stylus-C67: smb://WORKGROUP/SALA-CPU/EpsonSty NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: system-config-printer (not installed) Papersize: a4 PpdFiles: Epson-Stylus-C67: Epson Stylus C64 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 Simplified ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=pt_BR PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=pt_BR.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic-pae root=UUID=ef048809-fce5-4e55-b1a7-180128c0e260 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic-pae 2.6.38.2 Tags: natty Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic-pae i686 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-05-02 (7 days ago) UserGroups: dmi.bios.date: 07/31/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: Intel Corp. dmi.bios.version: ECG3510M.86A.0117.2009.0731.1421 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: DG35EC dmi.board.vendor: Intel Corporation dmi.board.version: AAE29266-210 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnIntelCorp.:bvrECG3510M.86A.0117.2009.0731.1421:bd07/31/2009:svn:pn:pvr:rvnIntelCorporation:rnDG35EC:rvrAAE29266-210:cvn:ct3:cvr: ** Affects: system-config-printer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected natty ** Tags added: apport-collected natty ** Description changed: Binary package hint: system-config-printer-gnome Hello, [Details]: I tried to configure a printer in my Ubuntu 11.04 via system-config- printer-gnome, but I couldn't because I could find the printer in my Samba Network, but when I tried to test the accessibility of the printer, it failed even with the correct authentication username and password...
