Public bug reported:

I am not sure if it is a bug or some things wrong with my installation. But in
every boot I am getting some problem and hardware schema is different from the
other.
First of all sometimes my sound card stops working, everything looks fine all
the nodes and modules are in place but there is no sound output. Even alsamixer
could find and adjust the sound output but there is no sound.
The second problem is with my touchpad. I have a VAIO with ALPS touchpad. I
need to use a device like /dev/input/event2 in the xorg.conf; but each time I
reboot the number of event changes( ie from event2 to event3) so I can not
configure it

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
