I have toshiba satelite l300 - 144 laptop with original bios firmware. Today I've upgraded ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04, so all packages up to date.
I can say, that I have no problems with suspend/resume. (Don't using suspend feature, so didn't sow it earlier) Suspend/resume - works for me. I have overheating problems. I don't think it is ubuntu specific.
