It's called chromium because the game was the only thing named chromium before the browser came around. Now that there are two programs in the archive with that name, it is confusing. But it has to point to chromium-bsu so that it doesn't break any existing packages that depend on it (although I'm not sure if there are any, and if there are they probably could be easily migrated). chromium is now only in dapper and hardy, so as soon as those reach end of life, I think it should be easy to then make it point to -browser. It's also not a big deal for users, since if you just search software center for "chromium," it's pretty obvious what is what.
