Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

When I attempted to upgrade from maverick to natty, it fails to a "could
not calculate upgrade" error. I purged all PPAs vi ppa-purge but I
still run into the error. Quite a few packages are being held back, and
python:i386 seems to be the culprit. I'm not sure which packages to
remove at this point since these seem to be officially supported Ubuntu
packages in the apt.log file.

After purging the PPAs, I expected the upgrade to proceed but instead it
fails with the "could not calculate" error due to broken dependencies
during the upgrade process

Error is "E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this
may be caused by held packages."
