I tried to remove the package with "ppa-purge ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa" but it complained "Warning: Could not find package list for PPA:..."
After some googling on the Ubuntu forums, I just blew away everything in /etc/apt/sources.list.d and tried again but no soap.
