Hi Fabio After this report I was having problems with some other progams not updating correctly, so I reinstalled using the same OS. Due to the fact that this is an old system (~2002) I had doubts about the hard drive and reinstalled on a different one. Since then I have had no further trouble, so there is a good possibility that the drive was the problem, though I can't be 100% certain.
