I have the same problem with knetworkmanager. I have a Broadcom BCM4318 wireless card, I used the bcm43xx-fwcutter to make the card work. When I use my modem whithout WPA security and is not hidden, knetworkmanager connects without problems, but with the encryption on and with hidden essid, it just stops at 28%.
