Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Unity Launcher does not auto-hide at startup (bug #734005) or at any
other time. This began at installation of Natty Narwhal, the first time
I started it up. I am unable to find any setting I can change to get
the Launcher to hide. Contrary to the information in the Help, the
Launcher does not hide when an application window contacts it. The app
window slides under the Launcher. I do not know which package is
involved.
