I can also confirm this bug after upgrading to 11.04. It might have been there in 10.10 as well, but the symptom was not that significant in that case.
I am using a Dell Latitude E6400 with Intel 5100 AGN chipset. Disabling N-support makes connection stable. However, I have also had problems with the same laptop connecting in Windows (using the Intel Windows driver) to my Netgear router (running OpenWRT 10.03). This is due to incompatibility with Power Save Polling (PSP) between the Intel driver and the Netgear router. Workaround is to disable power management in driver settings.
