I have a similar issue with a very closer computer if not the same. in
my case I am using a VOSTRO 3300 hybrid with Intel and Nvidia video
cards.

eduardo@node:~$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 18)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT218 [GeForce 310M] (rev
a2)

running over Ubuntu 11 but with the default video driver -- in another
test after to have formatted and installed again Ubuntu 11 I had tried
the Nvidia Experimental driver loaded in property driver but it doens't
work too. so for this new test I didn't download the Nvidia
Experimental 3D driver and just keep the default driver:

eduardo@node:~$ uname -a
Linux node 2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC 2011 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

eduardo@node:~$ lsmod |grep video
uvcvideo 72195 0
video 19438 2 nouveau,i915
videodev 82052 1 uvcvideo
v4l2_compat_ioctl32 17078 1 videodev

Looks like the 3D effects are enabled by default as I am able to see the
new menu in Unity on the left side but when I connect my external
monitor (Samsung 23" LCD) the image is all trembling.

I tried to change the resolutions for all combinations as possible but
with no successful.

please let me know if you need any other info I will glad to provide it.

Thx,
Eduardo Cerqueira
