Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

set up:
* multiple applications are open
* some applications have multiple windows (say, web browser)
* default unity settings (I have icon size in the launcher set to 32 pixels,
but that does not seem to have an effect)
* one application window encroaches the launcher area, so the launcher is hidden

scenario 1:
1. move the mouse to the left edge of the screen anywhere below the unity panel
(launcher will get triggered)
2. click on any application icon which does not bring up the overview (?) ,
i.e, any running application with just one window (the launcher will disappear
after the selected application gets focus)
3. repeat step 1
4. move the mouse a little bit to the right - ensuring that you don't move it
outside the launcher completely - now the unity launcher will not wait for you
to click anything, it will disappear.

scenario 2:
1. without using the launcher, bring to focus any window of an application
which has multiple windows open
2. move the mouse to the left edge of the screen anywhere below the unity panel
(launcher will get triggered)
3. click on any application icon which brings up the overview (?) , i.e, any
running application with more than one window (the launcher will disappear
after the selected application window gets focus)
4. repeat step 2, move the mouse a little bit to the right - ensuring that you
don't move it outside the launcher completely - the launcher will wait for you
to click until the mouse leaves the launcher entirely

scenario 3: (slightly different from scenario 1)
1. move the mouse to the left edge of the screen anywhere below the unity panel
(launcher will get triggered)
2. click on any application icon which does not bring up the overview (?) ,
i.e, any running application with just one window (the launcher will disappear
after the selected application gets focus)
3. repeat step 1
4. move the mouse away to the right (fairly quickly) and completely off the
launcher and immediately back to the launcher such that you moved the mouse
away and brought it back over the launcher before the launcher can disappear --
in this case, the launcher will wait for you to go away or click.

Scenario 1 appears to be a bug and scenario 3 (when scenario 1's bug is
fixed) would make sense where the lag/wait to not hide the launcher, as
soon as the mouse moved off it, is a useful thing.
