Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
After, upgrading from10.10 to 11.04 Ubuntu detected that my hardware doesnt support Unity but it failed to start GNOME Classic. After rebooting it couldnt login because there was some kind of X crash.. i dont know.. I saved my xorg.lo and dmesg http://pastebin.com/3F67kELM http://pastebin.com/ZfMrwyEu and then i found this on the internet: Section "Device" Identifier "card0" Driver "intel" Option "DRI" "false" EndSection I tried it on a new file /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/09-intel.conf and the problem changed. Now I can login but everything is messed up. Everything I do stays on screen forever (see screenshot http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3429388/11.04%20error/Screenshot-1.png ) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6+4ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic i686 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, decor, mousepoll, vpswitch, regex, animation, snap, expo, move, compiztoolbox, place, grid, imgpng, gnomecompat, wall, ezoom, workarounds, staticswitcher, resize, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, scale, session, unityshell] CompositorRunning: None DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1024x768 1024x768 800x600 800x600 800x600 800x600 800x600 640x480 640x480 640x480 640x480 720x400 640x400 edid-base64: AP///////wA0ONoHNTcxMg8KAQEIGhS56IFSpFNNmyQOSE8n2ABFWTFZAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBTgyAwCCQLRCgIBOEBMMQAAAa3g3Q2CCQLhD0JBOEBMMQAAAcTgyAyCDgFBCQQBOIBMMQAAAYTgyAyCDgFBCQQBOIBMMQAAAYABg= Date: Sun May 1 21:00:05 2011 DistUpgraded: Log time: 2011-04-29 18:49:12.176037 DistroCodename: natty DistroVariant: ubuntu GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2572] (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASRock Incorporation Device [1849:2572] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100816.1) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=el_GR:en LANG=el_GR.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic root=/dev/mapper/KAPNET--VG-OS ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 Renderer: Unknown SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-05-01 (0 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 07/17/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: P2.30 dmi.board.name: P4i65GV dmi.board.version: 1.0 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrP2.30:bd07/17/2008:svn:pnP4i65GV:pvr1.00:rvn:rnP4i65GV:rvr1.0: dmi.product.name: P4i65GV dmi.product.version: 1.00 version.compiz: compiz N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.23-1ubuntu6 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 7.10.2-0ubuntu2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 7.10.2-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg: xserver-xorg 1:7.6+4ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.0-0ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.14.0-4ubuntu7 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20110107+b795ca6e-0ubuntu7 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 natty regression-update ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775047 Title: Desktop Graphics mess -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
