This missing feature is also to me a show stopper! I'm using Ubuntu in my lab on several test PCs and each PC uses about 20 terminal well ordered to have an overview over the system. To open and place each terminal after a restart is absolutely a NO GO to me!!!
I switched immediately back to Ubuntu Classic but also here the feature is missing or I've not yet found it...
