I am also experiencing crashes related to CPU frequency scaling. I have a dual core processor (Core 2 Duo E6600) and every time I run a heavy process the computer freezes once the process is finished and load goes to zero. If I run e.g. glxgears with nice 19 in the background, this does not occur. I can also fix this by saying
sudo chmod +s /usr/bin/cpufreq-selector and setting both cores to "performance" (i.e. full frequency all the time). This happens both in edgy and feisty. However, one of the first Feisty alpha kernels did not have this bug. If I remember correctly it was 2.6.19-7. My motherboard is Abit AB9 with latest BIOS. I also have another similar system, but with a different motherboard (Asus Commando). The second computer does not suffer from this bug. -- CPU frequency scaling causes crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95569 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
