@David, while sending a message, the conversation window has got the focus, so it is not take in consideration while computing the global number of unread unity message. Anyway, the conversation counter is not set to 0 which may cause an issue later when the window is no more focused. It will be nice if I can validate that your issue is this one. Could please start pidgin with 'pidgin -d|grep libnotify' and send me by email (jea...@gmail.com) the output after reproducing your scenario? Thanks for your help.
