Hi,

I tried the following, as per
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver

lspci -nn | grep VGA
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility
Radeon HD 4200] [1002:9712]

According to the page this has good 3D support:
RS880 RadeonHD 4100/4200/4290

So I did:
sudo /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh # (if it exists)
sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx*
sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg-video-radeon
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-ati
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri
xserver-xorg-core
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

A reboot then, however, left me without any graphics at all, which I
recovered by switching to an alternate terminal CTRL+ALT+F4 and re-
installing fglrx.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Martin
