There's still a problem even after doing a fresh install of Ubuntu with the alternate CD builds of 20070418. For now I have to manually type mnt/root/boot/vmlinux initrd=mnt/root/boot/initrd.img root=/dev/sda1 to get Ubuntu to boot correctly.
