And here's my .xprofile in case it's of any interest. ** Attachment added: ".xprofile" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/762343/+attachment/2044606/+files/.xprofile
** Description changed: Binary package hint: unity [Problem] Windows can be placed on screen in ways that inhibit being able to move them, such as by launching them in a .xprofile. [Steps to reproduce] Create a ~/.xprofile that launches some gnome-terminal sessions with specified geometries: - gnome-terminal --geometry=103x29+0+0 & - gnome-terminal --geometry=115x20+1920+25 & + gnome-terminal --geometry=103x29+0+0 & + gnome-terminal --geometry=115x20+1920+25 & etc. On boot, I find that the windows are not always positioned where I intended them (annoying but a lesser issue), and that sometimes they're placed such that the titlebar overlays the main menu bar at the top of the screen. When this happens, I can no longer drag the window by clicking on the window's titlebar, even though I can see it. (see photo). + + The workaround I used was to Alt+Click on the window itself and drag, so + this isn't a huge issue. And I can't seem to launch new gnome-terminal + sessions into the incorrect position once unity is up and running, so + this is probably a pretty small corner case. Still annoying though...
