I can confirm this on Kubuntu 7.04. My guess is that there might be some
processes blocking the shutdown: If I have a fresh login, KDE shutdown
mostly works. If I enter "sudo shutdown now" into the terminal the PC
shuts down instantly. Maybe the KDE shutdown buttons need to be a little
more aggressive. I am going to play around a little bit with KShutDown.
