Public bug reported: When booting from the CD, the whole system freezes and becomes unresponsive. Occasionally, it has made it as far as getting to the desktop, but it then freezes within a minute or so of doing so. The most common freeze point is the screen where you can select to Try Ubuntu or Install Ubuntu, but it has frozen at other points too.
I've tried the noapic/nolapic options but the situation remains the same. Not sure what information I can provide to help debug the issue - memtest reports an Intel P45/G45 chipset, CPU is an Intel Q8200. The CD has been checked (Md5/checked for errors) without issue. As a bit of background, the last version of Ubuntu to work on this hardware is 9.10 - everything since then has resulted in the desktop freezing within a minute or two of starting. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/758827 Title: Natty Beta 1 Live CD Freeze during boot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
