not sure if this is relevant, but on the ubuntu forums this ws noted: sudo rmmod -f ath5k sudo modprobe ath5k nohwcrypt=1 it worked for me, after that the driver was loaded: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10652413#post10652413
