@Rodrigo: Nope, didn't help. Still having the issue. To me, it seems gdm's gnome-settings-daemon is still there after the login, and is there for a minute or so. Because sometimes (or maybe even always, have to check) when this issue happens, I seem to have a orange-like theme, and after some seconds it switches to the boxy ugly theme.
