Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gecko-mediaplayer

Since the start, gecko-mediaplayer has been packaged with a bunch of browsers
listed as fulfilling the browser "dependency".
There are a few issues with this:
-This is not a true dependency (any application supporting the plugin
infrastructure will work)
-The dependency does not add anything to the administrator's maintenance of the
system (someone without a browser would generally not install
gecko-mediaplayer, and if they did, would not be surprised when they could not
"launch" it)
-The hardcoded browser list is a burden to those using alternative browsers not
in the "approved" list.
For example, if one wishes to only have Chrome or the Midori browser installed
on a system, gecko-mediaplayer will not have its dependencies satisfied.
Finally, even just within Ubuntu, it's a maintenance issue, as all
NSAPI-compatible browsers (along with appropriate versions and alternative
package names) need to be added to the list.

I suggest that the browser dependency be removed from the dependency
list.
