Here is what you have to do to get your eGalax Working: before starting make sure the device it is connected correctly most people will be able to touch their screen and cause the mouse to right click the upper left corner of the screen open the terminal on Accessories and type lsusb see if the eGalax name shows on the screen if it does proceed to the first step Step 1 download the correct driver Go to the eGalax website and download the latest Drivers to your touch screen controller This is the location: http://home.eeti.com.tw/web20/eg/Touch_Drives.html Select Linux You can choose 32bit or 64bit In this example I provide the 32bit version http://home.eeti.com.tw/web20/drivers/touch_driver/Linux/20110117/eGalaxTouch-3.04.4912-32b-k26.tar.gz This will download the driver to your Download folder Step 2 You now have a file in your Download folder named "eGalaxTouch-3.04.4912-32b-k26.tar.gz" ".tar.gz" files are much like ".zip" files you need to extract the content of the package Go to the Download folder and extract the content of the eGalaxTouch-3.04.4912-32b-k26.tar.gz To do extract right click of the mouse on the file it will open a menu slide the mouse to "extract here" and do a left click The content of the package will extract. You will now have a new folder called "eGalaxTouch32" Step 3 Preparation to run the installer Inside of the folder "eGalaxTouch32" you should find 4 files and 1 folder You will need the file called "setup.sh" Before using this file, lets do one more Extraction. You will need to extract the file "eGalaxTouch.tar.gz" just like you did in Step 2 Notice that you now have 4 files and 2 folders The new Folder have the same name as the previous one. "eGalaxTouch32" Step 4 running the installer Now you need to open the terminal Clike on the menu the go to Accessories and click on Terminal you will see a dark window with a line similar to this: username@pcname:~$ type on that screen ls This command should show you some names in blue color This blue colors are the folders We need to get to the folder where the "setup.sh" file is type cd Download type again ls type cd eGalaxTouch32 ls Now you will see a green file called "setup.sh" type sudo sh setup.sh it will ask for your password after putting your password it will proceed to install the drivers it will then ask you witch interface your controller use in my case it is 3 for usb this should tell you: the touch device is present install the driver ask you to reboot and to type eGalaxTouch after the boot on the terminal to calibrate the touch controller with your screen you can also go to the Download folder then to the eGalaxTouch32 folder and again inside eGalaxTouch32 you will find many tools that can help you with the calibration process I hope you have found this content useful.
