The manufacturer has tried to install Dapper on the same hardware and he is also experiencing abnormally slow behavior. He will be trying daily and daily-current shortly, so we should see if the results are the same as for me.
The manufacturer also reported that installing Windows XP SP2 on the same machine takes less than an hour to complete.
