Thanks Cedric.

Gnome will always have a place in Ubuntu, just like KDE and XFCE. We had
very much expected that Unity would be part of Gnome, but strong voices
in Gnome are saying it is not welcome there. We'll work that out in due
course, one way or the other, with the Gnome Foundation. Unity will be
the default environment, but Ubuntu has always risen above differences
like that to be an overall platform which gives you the best of ALL open
source.

Gnome 3 will be no different. We already have a lot of people, Canonical
and community, helping out to get to the point where Ubuntu users can
enjoy Gnome Shell and Gnome 3.
