I'm pretty sure the small file size is expected, but the silent file is not. 
Can you send me one of those via email?

The more I think about it, the more I believe we should add a check for a 0
start time and just ignore it.  A 0 start time and no start time at all are
just the same thing after all.

I won't do a v12 patch, but once it is committed, don't let me forget to fix
the start time check.  :-)
