The legacy driver does not support texture_to_pixmap [1]. It went into
maintenance mode years before this extension arrived. texture_to_pixmap
was only introduced with the 93xx series of drivers (what has now become
nvidia-glx). The only way to get compiz going on such cards is via XGL.

I don't know why I didn't report this earlier than two weeks ago... I
can only guess there was some other issue getting in the way.
