Your bug report has been looming over me for two days now. I just couldn't live with the guilt of knowing the desktop environment I use could lead to Wanda's disappearance.
So, I created a project to revive her as an application indicator. I know she doesn't really fit that API and we're meant to be encouraging monochrome icons in the panel, but for Wanda I think we can make an exception. (No, really, it would be pretty cool to get this thing fully implemented. While it is an abuse of the API, it could still serve as a nice piece of example code for libappindicator in Vala).
