Thanks a lot for your help. Here are the results:
1) Did not have /updates/ in the filename
2) Installed the package linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.35-28-generic. No change 
in stuation. Attached the output from http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh 
at this point as alsa-info-report-post-alsa-driver.txt
3) Tried after inserting alsa-base.conf with model=auto. No change. Attached 
alsa-info-report-post-alsa-driver-model=auto.txt
4) On hda-anayzer, I could not figure out how I can raise the Amp-out values. 
What I see on node 0x0f is attached as Screenshot-HDAAnalyzer.png
