This is not related too much whit this bug, but I was thinking that BAMF maybe 
should take care also of the .desktop files in ~/Desktop folder and not only 
the ones in the default "applications" folders. This would allow to define 
short-cuts in desktop and use them as desktop files associated with a BAMF 
application (with an icon and so)...
Maybe it's not standard, but reasonable.

If it can be considered, I could open a bug / branch.
