Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: camorama

Camorama 0.19

This is a request for an improvement.

I miss functions to measure length, angle, area, etc in Camorama (or any
other SW for Ubuntu). There are devices on the market, USB microscopes
and these are not supported in Ubuntu. USB microscope is very similar to
USB WebCAM but it has different lens, etc. Cheap USB microscope can
magnify up to 200x and image output is 640x480.

Sample device is described here:
http://www.marshalltradecorp.com/coDe/misc/usb_microscope_linux.html

The microscope works with Ubuntu (10.10). With Camorama (and other
tools) I can take snapshot and I can record video. But I miss a function
to measure objects in the picture. There is a SW for Windows, SuperEyes
that is very similar to Camorama but it was designed for USB microscope
and it adds a function to measure size, angle, and other attributes.

>From my point of view these functions can be added to Camorama and it
will increase it value.

** Affects: camorama (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
