The example I used in the screenshot was showing a users 'reputation' on stackexchange sites via the stackapplet app. I'd much prefer showing "1.2k", which would mean 6 chars (1024 -> 12.31k -> 999.9M). If that's reasonable, It'd be a great additional use-case.
