I am building GCC from upstream (I do some work on GCC). Are you planning to push a patch upstream? Another annoyance is that I have several custom versions of GCC I obtained from a commercial company. These all broke too, and I can't rebuild them myself. However Iain's LD_LIBRARY_PATH workaround is effective, so it's not the end of the world.
