As for g-p-e: It's obsolete anyway, as next cycle when we switch to GTK3, stuff needs to be ported to PyGI. The gtkspell API is tiny, so building a gir for that should be easy. However, as it is tightly integrated into Gtk.TextView, we can't mix it with gwibber as long as that isn't ported to PyGI. So for natty we should go with dropping g-p-e to universe and cloning a python-gtkspell source package from it for main.
