I have a very similar problem: my atheros wireless card is recognized only if I
put the option "acpi=force" to kernel. I beleive I installed some madwifi, some
times ago. But acpi=force does disasbles access to my usb disks: so I have to
choose, if to boot with wifi access (with acpi=force option to kernel), or boot
for usb access (without that option). It's very annoying.
I use a kubuntu with 6.06, but exactly the same situation appears with 7.04
beta, 14/4/7 release. Laptop Packard Bell Easynote.
