I have stopped experimenting the bug on the laptop mentioned in my FP, at least since 2.6.35. Couldn't test yet my new desktop environment in the lap (Ubuntu 10.10 + 2.6.38 debs from kernel.ubuntu.org, soon to be hand-compiled), but when i do i'll report back.
