** Description changed: General: My ubuntu 10.04 server will drop both 2tb hard drives after a few hours of power on time. the drives function correctly until the os drops them. once this occurs i must restart the server and the drives are recognized again. About the system: ubuntu 10.04 server edition and i installed gnome. i has 4 sil3114 raid controllers with 12 hard drives in the system. 2 80 gig os drives in raid 1 (the swap is also riad1). their are 8 1-tb drives all in pairs using mdadm raid1. The 2 2tb drives also paired using mdadm are the problem. all other drives function as expected. both 2tb drive have been tested in another ubuntu system and did not experience any issues. Problem: As previously mentioned the 2 2tb drives are the issue. The array will come on line normally when the system is started and 1-12 hours later the os will drop the drives. using the "disk utility" the 2 drives will appear to still be in the computer but when anything tries to use them an input output message is displayed. this same message is displayed if i try to update the smart information. + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: administrator 1950 F.... pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'V8237'/'VIA 8237 with AD1888 at 0xe800, irq 22' + Mixer name : 'Analog Devices AD1888' + Components : 'AC97a:41445368' + Controls : 52 + Simple ctrls : 34 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=ddd2ddec-8f08-4018-b09f-adbacd68ad5a + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 10.04.1 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100816.2) + IwConfig: + lo no wireless extensions. + + eth0 no wireless extensions. + MachineType: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
