The problem currently seems to be that instead of connecting to the network when returning from suspend it needs to get the WPA key again. When i started up the computer and initially connected to the network i gave NM access to the key ring. it seems as though it no longer has access to the key ring and it asks me for the WPA key. Once i do give it the WPA key NM will connect without issue.
