I have this issue. I do NOT use GTalk on Empathy, I only use AIM, MSN, and Y!M. When I set my status to invisible in empathy it sets me to busy. Repetitively. It never stays as invisible/hidden for more than a few seconds before it changes to busy again. And I do not even have the option to change it from the user panel once it sets it there, it shows me in my user panel as busy and upon attempting to go to invisible does absolutely nothing. I am using Lucid LTS, completely updated and everything. It's never bothered me before because I didn't use messenger often but I am using it much more now, and this is an absolute pain.
