Had me rebooting and lossing work two times this week already:
1. time the connected server had a large load an thus delay
2. time the cleaning service disconnected the LAN switch power supply

both times system freeze!

I'm thinking about a script to monitor connectivity and killl the process as 
fast as possible as I found on the debian thread
"The only solution I've found is to kill -9 the sshfs userspace daemon and then 
to fusermount -uz the mountpoint. "

I mean this package is supposed to be "maintained by canonical"...
